Connecting with the People presented an edition dedicated to the stories that emerge when someone decides to learn something new and transform their life, supported by the State Institute of Training (IECA).

The Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, spoke with Salomon Ceballos, Director General of IECA, as well as with Leticia Echeverria and Karina Contreras, two women from Guanajuato who are now entrepreneurs thanks to the knowledge they acquired at this institution.

“At IECA, you will find happiness in all the courses offered. Let’s not wait until the end of our lives to think about what we wanted to do; the time is now. Let’s find a way, let’s motivate ourselves to get ahead; that encourages our families,” said Leticia Echeverria, from the San Jose de Los Pinos, a community in Irapuato
IECA celebrates 19 years of training people throughout Guanajuato:
- It has trained more than 848,000 people
- 97,000 courses given
- It has 29 Training Units
- 3 High-Specialty Centers
- 6 Technological Hubs
- 8 Innovation Centers

But beyond the numbers, the Governor emphasized that life stories are the true face of this institution.
Like the story of Lety, from Irapuato, who decided to take sewing courses to generate her own income and support her children; or that of Karina, originally from the Valtierrilla community in Salamanca, who found a business opportunity in the nopal cactus and turned it into preserves, jams, and cakes.

IECA offers more than 8,500 courses in activities like:
- Baking, sewing, industry, technology, tourism, industrial processes, food, administration, beauty, and more
- Aimed at people from 15 to 65 years of age and older, and especially at female heads of household who seek to start or strengthen a business, they also receive a 25% discount on training through their Pink Card
- From January to September, 25,000 women have received training at IECA out of a total of 52,000 people

Training at the institution can be the first step to accessing funds from the “Tu Puedes” Financial Institution, aimed at those who wish to start or grow their business after developing new skills.
