“Being a police officer and being an investigative police officer, is a choice for university students, because we want and need the security of professionals and specialists in law, criminology, medicine, psychology and pedagogy, and many more careers”, said Sophia Huett Lopez, Executive Secretary of the State Public Security System.
Only in this way can we aspire to the police that we need and demand as citizens, and the one that our country requires, noted Huett Lopez as she participated in a dialogue about the Investigative Police with students from the degree in Law and Criminology of the Universidad de la Salle Bajio, where she was received by Enrique Alejandro Gonzalez Alvarez, Rector of the University and the Director of the School of Law, Fernando Marquez Rivas.
Huett was in the event with Juan Carlos Sandoval, an American agent of Mexican origin, who has 23 years of experience as a criminal investigator, and Dr. Juan Mauro Gonzalez, doctor in Public Security, Criminal Prosecution and Criminal Policy, the three agreed that the basis of good police officers in investigation, is first to be police officers, since their closeness to people and to those who are victims of crime, lets them have greater vision and perspective when integrating an investigation portfolio.
After exposing success stories in Mexico and in collaboration with the United States Government, which led to the dismantling of important criminal cells and the arrest of the leaders of the organizations, they highlighted the work of the municipal police in these processes, the importance of their professionalization, where in addition to tools and equipment, they are instructed to be a modern police force that investigates and prevents crime.
Unlike the rest of the country in Guanajuato the average salary for Municipal Police is 18 thousand pesos and in the case of the State Police it is 20 thousand on a basic scale, said the Executive Secretary of the State Security System.
“We have the best salaries in the country, but here the important thing is not to recruit into the municipal police whoever arrives, but rather those elements who have a true police vocation and we need, professionals in all branches, and making of science, methodology and processes, natural allies of the police function.
Juan Carlos Sandoval has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Southwestern/Miramar College, in San Diego, California, as well as extensive professional training in SWAT groups, and in the last 16 years he has directed and supervised highly complex national and foreign operations in the United States, Spain and Latin America; he has also trained investigative agents, including DEA and FBI special agents.
Juan Mauro Gonzalez, has a doctorate in Public Security, Criminal Prosecution and Criminal Policy, he is also a master in National Security from the Center for Higher Naval Studies of the Secretary of the Navy of Mexico, and has received the Decoration of Merit on three occasions as First Class Police Officer.
