‘The Guanajuato of the future is built from the roots’

The Governor participated in the 1st Ordinary Session of the State Indigenous Council of Guanajuato 2025

10% of the Fund of Contributions -FAIS- will be allocated to Indigenous Peoples

“The Fund of Contributions for the Social Infrastructure -FAIS-, for the first time in its history, will allocate 10% of the funds directly to Indigenous Peoples”, said Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo.

Libia took part of the First Ordinary Session of the State Indigenous Council of the State of Guanajuato 2025, and supported the concerns of the Councilors.

The State Executive informed the Council that it has already signed with the Federation the participation of Guanajuato in the FAIS and the commitment of the People’s Government with the Councilors is to materialize the needs of the Native Peoples of Guanajuato, respecting their roots.

“You will have an administration that not only believes in the great strength that our indigenous communities represent, but also understands that the Guanajuato of the future has to be built with solid roots of what gives us identity. Our indigenous communities represent history, tradition, roots and culture that represent Guanajuato,” noted the State Governor.

The Government of the People has the firm conviction that the work for the people of Guanajuato is done away from the desk and close to the needs, with the aim of making decisions that change the lives of families.

“Thanks to your voice, today we are going to do very close work,” said the Governor.

This Council is made up of representatives of municipalities with indigenous presence, according to the Registry of Indigenous Peoples and Communities of Guanajuato.

In Guanajuato there are just over 90 native communities and more than 70 thousand people identified as indigenous population.

Native population is distributed in these municipalities:

• Apaseo El Alto, Atarjea, Comonfort, Dolores Hidalgo CIN, Salvatierra, San Luis de La Paz, San Miguel de Allende, Santa Catarina, Tierra Blanca, Valle de Santiago, Victoria, Villagran and Xichu
