Children’s Day will permeate the programming of the upcoming activities of the City Theater in Purisima del Rincon, which will receive an endowment of joy, rounds and endearing stories with talent from Guanajuato.
“The Little Prince”, a dance-theater production by the Laboratorio de con-TACTO company, and “Jazzeando las rondas”, a musical proposal by the Leones band Tripas de Gato, form the billboard that families from the Pueblos del Rincon will be able to enjoy on Thursday, April 18 and Sunday, April 28, respectively.
Opening the program is the version directed by Jaime Juarez Abina of the Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s classic, which tells the endearing story, rich in wisdom, of the meeting of an aviator stranded in the desert with a child. The staging features the performance of Jaime Juarez, Jimena Cuen and the musical interpretation of Ivan Arias.
Jaime Juarez, who adapted the story and stars in the staging, is a young Irapuatense talent who has stood out as an actor with groups such as FORTEM; dancer in various companies in Mexico and Ecuador; and stage director focused on choreography and theatrical direction.
“Jazzeando las rondas”, is a program aimed at girls and boys based on Latin American children’s songs with original arrangements that incorporate jazz rhythms and resources with dynamics for interaction with the public and the promotion of family integration. The program includes traditional songs such as “Sweet orange, sliced lemon”, “Arroz pudding”, “Pin Pon”, “An elephant was swinging” and “The cockroach”, among others.
This show was selected by the Federal Ministry of Culture to participate in the Raiz Mexico Festival, performing in various States of Mexico during 2023. Tripas de Gato completes a decade of work in the Guanajuato jazz scene in 2024, with participation in events such as the Queretaro International Jazz Festival or the International Contemporary Art Festival in Leon.
“The Little Prince”, with the con-TACTO Laboratory, will be presented at the Purisima del Rincon City Theater this Thursday, April 18, at 6:00 p.m.; while “Jazzeando las rondas”, with Tripas de Gato, will do the same on Sunday the 28th, at 1:00 p.m.
General admission to both shows is 50 pesos and tickets will be available at the venue’s box office two hours before each performance.
