The 10th anniversary of Food Cluster is commemorated

The agro-food sector contributes 15.5% of the State’s GDP, generates more than 327,000 jobs and comprises 35,000 economic units in Guanajuato

The Guanajuato Food Cluster celebrates 10 years of strengthening the competitiveness of the sector and the integration of companies

Ten years after its creation, the Guanajuato Food Cluster is consolidating itself as a business network that promotes the competitiveness of the agro-food sector, one of the strategic pillars of the economic development of the State.

Formally established in December 2015, the cluster was created to strengthen the entire value chain of the local agro-food sector and increase the competitiveness of Guanajuatense companies in national and international markets.

Under the vision of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the promotion of strategic sectors such as agro-food is part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the State’s economic growth, generate more opportunities for businesses, and improve the quality of life for Guanajuatense families.

Today, the agro-food sector contributes 15.5% of the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), generates more than 327,000 jobs and includes 35,000 economic units, consolidating itself as one of the most important drivers of the economy of Guanajuato.

The food sector is also the second largest contributor to the State’s GDP, second only to the automotive industry, so the People’s Government continues to work with actions and strategies that will strengthen its growth, promote innovation and support the development of the companies that comprise it.

The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, recognized the work of the Board of Directors and the associated companies, as well as the leadership of Carlos Munoz Salcedo, president of the Guanajuato Food Cluster, for consolidating this business collaboration platform that is now a benchmark in the State.

Villasenor Aguilar insisted that, from the Secretary of Economy, under the leadership of the People’s Government, the commitment remains to continue strengthening the competitiveness of the sector, promoting the integration of local suppliers, developing specialized talent and opening new markets for Guanajuatense companies.

Villasenor noted that the creation of clusters in traditional sectors of Guanajuato allows for the creation of new business opportunities, the design of marketing strategies, and the strengthening of local suppliers, contributing to the growth of companies and regional economic development.

The State Government is working in coordination with business organizations to promote actions that strengthen local businesses.
