With cinema, photography and music, one of the most dynamic nations in Southeast Asia will present a sample of its cultural richness this weekend at the ¨Thailand in Guanajuato” event, a new chapter of the program More World in Guanajuato.
The event, coordinated by the State Institute of Culture with the support of the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico, will take place on two significant dates for both nations: May 4, the anniversary of the coronation of King Rama X of Thailand, and on May 5, the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla.
The activities begin on Thursday the 4th with the screening of the film “Love Destiny 2” at the Cineclub of the University of Guanajuato. Directed by Adisorn Tresirikasem, it is one of the most recent and successful films in Thai cinema, in which comedy, romance and the premise of time travel are intertwined.
Based on a hit 2018 TV series, which was itself adapted from a novel by Thai writer Rompaeng, “Love Destiny 2” tells the story of two young people who loved each other in ancient Thailand and are reborn in the present day, but in different forms: Phop, a craftsman and Kesorn, an educated and progressive woman who do not believe in reincarnations, but Phop is sure that she is the woman he sees in his dreams.
The program continues on Friday the 5th, with the inauguration of the exhibit “Surprising Thailand”, by the Mexican photographer Juan San Juan Rebollar, at the Conde Rul Museum.
The exhibition, with about twenty images, is the product of the artistic residence that San Juan Rebollar held in Thailand in 2014, at the invitation of the Embassy of that nation, to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic relations with Mexico.
The day comes to its end on May 5 at the Alhondiga de Granaditas esplanade with a concert by the vocal band 4Mix, one of the most striking and popular new groups of the so-called T-Pop, which is distinguished by its charisma, style of dress and makeup that breaks stereotypes.
4Mix had its debut in May 2021. Their music is a mix of pop, hip hop, and electronica, with lyrics about love, heartbreak, self esteem and empowerment.
Its first single “Y U Comeback” was a hit on social media, especially on TikTok, where its choreography went viral.
