Pleasing migrants
Alfonso Mena Marquez, Coordinator of International Promotion of the Agro-Food Sector was in this tour representing COFOCE and it was him who presented the box “Sabor a Guanajuato” in migrant houses.
In this tour COFOCE worked in a transversal form with SMEI and SDES , to promote products made in Guanajuato to more than 15 migrant leaders who can be spokespersons on the quality of these processed products from Guanajuato.
Sales for export
“We obtained short and medium-term sales, which are export sales for these companies. We registered new international buyers, and one of the aspects that makes it so important to work with the Migrant Secretary is that they know migrant leaders who live there in the United States, our countrymen, and they could become ambassadors of the products made here in Guanajuato”, said Mena Marquez of COFOCE.
During this tour, visits were arranged to different American supermarket chains and nostalgia stores, such as Pete’s Fresh Market, La Hacienda and other located in the Little Village area of Chicago.
“They can share photographs, information and brands so that these brands are known, and so that consumers know that they are quality products, products made here in their land”, said Mena Marquez.
COFOCE included the Handicrafts Sector in this mission and in the box given to the migrants, attendees received molcajetes from Comonfort.
Love for the homeland
Jorge Godinez, Coordinator of the Handicrafts Sector of COFOCE is working so that these two sectors are promoted in this type of nostalgia stores, since the countrymen are waiting for this type of product that reminds them of their land.
Mena Márquez said that the box “Sabor a Guanajuato” will be sold in Dallas starting this May at the Casas del Migrante.
