The Quetzabot 2 robotics tournament was held, organized by the General Quetzalcoatl Secondary School in Valle de Santiago, which brought together basic, high school and superior school students from both public and private institutions.
In this second edition, organizers registered the participation of:
- 176 teams
- 15 schools
- 352 students
Participants belong to schools from:
- Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, Irapuato, Salamanca, Penjamo, Cortazar, Tierra Blanca, Yuriria and Valle de Santiago
The competition, which was held in the auditorium of the Technological University of the Southwest of Guanajuato -UTSOE-, was divided into seven categories:
- Line Follower, Sumo RC, Brush Race, Bumper Bot, Skill Drive by RoboJam, PT-Bot and Soccer Bot
Yolotzin Ojeda Viveros, Director of the Quetzalcoatl Secondary School, said that the goal of this tournament is to disseminate science, technology and innovation among students, “to motivate those students who are interested in robotics and those who are not interested yet, since robotics is the trend of the future.”
Ojeda said that to the extent that students are encouraged to continue advancing in education, the results will be better, “that is one of the objectives, to retain our students in secondary education and have them aspire to higher levels.”
This tournament arose in 2023 as part of the 45th Anniversary celebrations of the General Quetzalcoatl Secondary School, which has among its ranks personnel trained in robotics, who participate in different national and international tournaments.
This year the second edition was held, increasing the categories and number of participants.
