Leon is the epicenter of the Covid 19 pandemic in Guanajuato, it reports the highest rate of contagion in the State
Health Authorities are modifying the way they are facing the Coronavirus in Leon to lower the case rate of contagion

Leon is the municipality with the highest number of Covid 19 contagion in Guanajuato, even when the exponential rise of contagion is growing in other municipalities.
In a virtual reunion of staff of the Institute of Public Health of Guanajuato, participants agreed on relaunching strategies to face the pandemic.
Antonio Escobar Rodriguez Chief of the VII Health Jurisdiction informed that they have a high number of people sick of Covid 19.
Good infrastructure
Leon has most of the hospitals and the ones with the greater capacity to accept patients of Covid 19, so they are planning a reunion with local health authorities to reinforce the protocols in the Hospital Network in the Municipality.
Antonio Escobar announced that 99% of contagion in Leon have ocurred by local transmission and only one per cent are “imported” cases, contagion occurs mainly in young-adults, between 40 and 44 years old, a population that is active economically and in adults 46 to 64 years old.
In Leon, as in the rest of Guanajuato, the ocurrance of confirmed daily cases has gone over expected cases of contagion, this is because of the mobility of people in the municipality and in part because of the reactivation of economy.
A peak that does not come
“It was said that the peak of the pandemic would occur in mid June and that from there cases would start to go down, but it just appears that this is not happening”, said the Chief of the VII Health Jurisdiction.
In the case of deaths, until now the number has kept as it was expected with 172 fatalities in Leon.
From the 2,846 cases 50% are men and 50% are women, and home is the main place of contagion.
Still in Phase 3
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato Daniel Diaz said that they are considering to change the processing of tests in Leon, and also use more campaigns to promote Covid 19 prevention measures with the State Health System as responsible for these campaigns hoping to mitigate the local contagion.
Guanajuato is still on Phase 3 and the State hasn’t come out of the pandemic, that is the reason why returning to any activities should be strictly obeying the State Light for Reactivation.
