SSG vaccinates against HPV in the Rincon area

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato has applied more than 4 thousand doses to school girls

The Gto Health System applied the Human Papillomavirus vaccine to school girls in the Rincon area.

Health personnel from the VIII Health Jurisdiction visited primary and secondary schools in the 5 municipalities of the Health Jurisdiction, which are Silao, Romita, Manuel Doblado, San Francisco del Rincon and Purisima del Rincon.

In these municipalities, 4,556 doses have been administered to girls in the 5th and 6th year of primary school or girls aged 11 and 12, adolescents from 1st to 3rd year of secondary school or adolescents from 13 to 15 years old.

The doses have been applied as follows:

• Manuel Doblado with 272 doses
• Purisima with 714 doses
• Romita 502 doses
• San Francisco 1,082 doses
• Silao with 1,985 doses

The vaccine is available at the medical units of the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato.

This activity greatly reduces the deaths among women, which is why mothers, fathers and caregivers were encouraged to bring their daughters to get vaccinated.

Risk factors are:

• Beginning unprotected sexual life in adolescence, smoking, sexually transmitted infections, more than 3 pregnancies, not having been screened for cancer

These are some recommendations for prevention:

• HPV vaccination, correct use of condoms and having a Pap smear and human papillomavirus test
