The Executive Secretary of the State Security System, Sophia Huett López, participated in the activities of the World Conference of the “International Women’s Forum”, (IWF), from October 31 to November 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada; with the title “Overcoming the Difficulties: The search for new solutions”.

With 600 women leaders from around the world, as well as fellows or members, of which she is a part, the head of SESESP is the first woman from a Mexican State Government to participate as a fellow and the first from the civil security field, a member of the class of 2021-2022.

The participation of Huett presents analysis of advances in her career, trajectory and contributions, as well as the possibilities of continuing in positions of growth; most of the participating scholarship recipients during the presence of the Mexico Chapter, which is in its 30th year in 2022, come from the private initiative.

In the IWF World Conference, Sophia Huett Lopez, participated in the plenary sessions:

“Critical Minerals: the dilemma of clean energies”
“The Economy”, by Dr. Elaine Buckberg, Head of Economy of General Motors
“Clean Water: Increasing Demand, Decreasing Supply,” with Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, President of the Tibetan Center and minister in the Tibetan government-in-exile, representing the Dalai Lama as a political leader

Other plenary sessions were:

“The Evolution of Sustainability”, “Peaceful Mind”, led by Dr. Jean Clinton, from the University of Psychiatry and Neuronal Behavior at McMaster University in Canada
Another by Dr. Nance Roy, chief clinical officer of The Jed Foundation and professor at Yale School of Medicine
By Maya Enista Smith, executive director of the Born this Way Foundation
“Are We Alone?,” presented by Dr. Avi Loeb, science professor at Harvard University, moderated by Vanessa E. Wyche, director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center
Also the “Advanced Leadership, Women in Councils” workshop was presented, it included the participation of Sandra Douglass, President of the Las Vegas Raiders football team
The “Ideas Remaking The World” session, by Carmen Best, Global Chief Operating Officer for Microsoft and former Seattle Police Chief

Shari Graydon, CEO of Informed Opinions Canada, on preparing female spokespersons and voices for greater participation in the media, as an essential element in building democracy; and in which Mexico stands out for occupying the fourth place in the world in gender equality in political positions
The Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Natalie Jaresko also had a participation
The Professor of Political and International Affairs and director of “Project ion Reimagining World Order” of Princeton University, Doctor John Ikenberry, in a Faceoff session “Democracy Vs. Autocracy”

A visit to the Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement

During this 2022 session, the integration of the 2022 Hall of Fame was also held, where since 1985, figures whose contribution to society have managed to transcend on a global scale are honored, likewise, recognition is given to women who make a difference, recognizing the outstanding achievements and contributions that IWF members make to their communities.

90 women have been honored until this year, including politicians, scientists, writers, businesswomen, artists and even presidents of nations.

Joining the Hall of Fame on this edition are:

Jane Goodall, British ethologist and environmental activist, United Nations Messenger of Peace
Allyson Maynarg Gibson, former Minister of International Affairs of the Bahamas and a fighter for women’s and children’s rights

The participation of the Executive Secretary of the State Public Security System, Sophia Huett Lopez, promotes from the Government of Guanajuato of Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo a public policy of women’s leadership and gender equality, thus promoting the construction of more prosperous communities, businesses, states and countries.
