The Gto Health Systen reports the organ donation of a man from Purisima del Rincon
Purisima del Rincon/Gto News
Originally from Purisima del Rincon, 49-year-old Alberto, donated his organs to restore life expectancy to four Guanajuatenses.
After a cerebral vascular event due to a hypertensive emergency, his family made the decision to donate his organs, reported the State Health Secretary.
The process was carried out at the General Hospital of Leon in addition to the procurement of skeletal muscle tissue.
The daughters of the diseased made this decision because they remembered their father as a generous, loving and hard-working man. Both kidneys were transplanted at the Bajio Regional High Specialty Hospital, the corneas at General Hospital in Leon.
In Guanajuato there is an entire organ procurement network with coverage in Hospitals that have a license to perform the procedures, through personnel assigned to the State Transplant Center.
Organ donation constitutes one of the greatest expressions of solidarity, being a voluntary and personal act that makes it possible to provide new or better life opportunities to people of all ages who are on the waiting list for a transplant, the only treatment alternative in cases of great complexity.
There are two types of donors:
- Living donor (DV): This is the person who, while alive, decides to donate an organ or tissue to a loved one, which could be a kidney, a part of his or her liver, bone marrow or blood
- Cadaveric donor (DC): This is the person who, after dying, the relatives decide to donate the organs and tissues to save other lives. Clinical conditions at the time of death determine which organs and tissue are viable for transplant
