The Second Agave Festival and its Roots comes to Purisima del Rincon and is celebrated at Canada de Negros on May 19th
The number of exhibitors increases from 37 in 2023 to 53 in the 2024 Editio

This Sunday May 19th starting at noon, Purisima del Rincon celebrates the Second Agave Festival and its Roots in Canada de Negros, the event will include all types of public security actions and recommendations of transport protection to guarantee the well being of visiting families.
Interim Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, Miguel Angel Servin Villanueva, and Frida Ximena Huett Lopez, Tourism Products Director, representing Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, and other Officials and exhibitors presented and invited all to the Agave Festival.
In this second edition organizers and participants are expecting at least 9 thousand visitors, compared to the 5,500 visitors in the 2023 edition who left one million pesos in spending, and for 2024, organizers expect visitors to spend one million 200 thousand pesos, or more due to the increase in visitors.
Amarelis Marquez Lozano, responsible of logistics of the event, said that in 2023 they had the participation of:
- 37 exhibitors
- In 2024 there will be:
- 53 exhibitors
16 tequila producers, among them:
- Tequila Corralejo from Penjamo, Tequila 30-30, exclusive Tequila from Purisima del Rincon, Tequila and Mezcal Ofrenda de los Dioses from Purisima del Rincon, Tequila Galindo-Maradona, among other brands coming from Jalisco, Manuel Doblado, Leon, Guanajuato, San Felipe and pulqueria from Purisima de Rincon
20 exhibitors present gastronomy products
- 15 are from Purisima del Rincon; 1 is from Romita, 1 is from Manuel Doblado, 2 are from San Francisco, and 1 is from Leon
11 exhibitors present desserts and they are from communities like:
- Canada de Negros, El Toro, San Andres de Jalpa, Dolores and from Purisima del Rincon
- 5 arts and crafts exhibitors
- One offering carved masks
The head of the Direction of Economic Development and Tourism, Jorge Alberto Ramirez Gamez, said that the event will not take security resources away from general population, and that everything is well organized in matters of security, traffic, health care and hydration.
Interim Mayor Miguel Angel Servin said that the Second Agave Festival offers culture, gastronomy, promotion of the origin of the agave, preservation of the process of the agave, of which Purisima has origin certification for its production and process.
Servin also said that being in Canada de Negros is working for the consolidation of the tourism corridor.
Frida Huett, said that Purisima del Rincon is working to vary all its possibilities and an example is that the municipality now has agave and tequila production; Huett also mentioned the production in the region, the traditional gastronomy, providing also a showcase for products from Penjamo, Jalisco, Silao, San Francisco del Rincon and Manuel Doblado.
Huett invited all to taste the distillates offered in the Festival, but always in a responsible way.
Ivan de Jesus Torres Lopez, from Casa Torres and Rodriguez, said that in Jalpa de Canovas they are producing white, reposado and aged tequila, and that they have in this Magic Town a production that is distributed to the whole world.
The program starts at 11 am, and offers music, folk dances, singers, mariachi, horses show, and the performance of the Imperio Band.
