According to the 2024 Multidimensional Poverty Measurement of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), presented on Wednesday morning, the State has managed to help 430,856 people overcome poverty in just two years, which places Guanajuato in fourth place nationally with the greatest decrease, reported the Governor of the People, at the inauguration of the 17th Edition of the Expo MiPyME in Irapuato.

“This is a very important piece of data because this measurement talks about multidimensional causes related to health, education, and access to basic services, which represents a collective effort to create better conditions for our people,” said the Governor.

The Governor noted that, during the same period, 336,556 people left moderate poverty behind and 94,300 overcame extreme poverty, reflecting significant progress in health, education, and access to basic services.

“These results come from a collective effort to create a State with more opportunities. There is still much to be done, but these numbers are encouraging and linked to the economic empowerment fostered by events like this MSME Expo,” said Libia Dennise.

The MiPyME Expo is one of the most important business gatherings in Guanajuato, organized by the Irapuato Business Coordinating Council. This event brings together entrepreneurs, business owners, partner organizations, and specialists to strengthen micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, a key driver of the Guanajuatense economy.

In Guanajuato, there are more than 343,000 business units, of which 269,089 are MSMEs, representing 78.38% of the State total, and of these, 95.2% are microenterprises, according to data from INEGI.

Under the theme “Business Reset,” this Expo MiPyME edition seeks to return to the fundamentals that provide stability and direction to companies, offering practical and strategic tools through conferences and expert testimony. Business meetings are also held among companies with the ESR Distinction and the Marca GTO emblem, with the aim of promoting domestic trade, supplier development, and innovation with an export focus.

“MSMEs are the heart of our economy. Today we reaffirm our commitment to supporting them, innovating alongside them, and opening up more opportunities for Guanajuatense families,” said the Governor.
