Michelin Guide highlights excellence of Guanajuato

Our State stands out for creating unforgettable accommodation experiences, according to the Michelin Guide

The prestigious Michelin Guide recognized nine hotels in the State with the “Michelin Keys” distinction in its most recent international survey, highlighting them as a symbol of excellence in hospitality. This achievement positions Guanajuato as a benchmark for authentic luxury and world-class hospitality.

Among the notable hotels, Casa de Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel, in San Miguel de Allende, stands out. It has earned two Michelin stars, establishing itself as an icon of luxury and tradition. Located in a colonial hacienda, it combines historic elegance with exceptional service.

In the same municipality, the hotels Casa 1810 Hotel Boutique, Casa Hoyos, Hotel Casa Blanca 7, Hotel Matilda, L’Ôtel – Casa Arca, Maison Mexique, and Our Habitas San Miguel received a Michelin key, reaffirming San Miguel de Allende as an ideal location for luxury hotels. 

In Guanajuato City, the Nueve 25 Hotel Boutique was also recognized with a key, highlighting its avant-garde design and personalized service in the heart of the heritage city.

The Keys represent the highest international hotel recognition. They are awarded by anonymous inspectors who evaluate excellence in service and experience, authenticity and sense of place, quality of design and comfort, as well as commitment to sustainability and community impact. 

Similar to Michelin Stars in gastronomy, the Keys classify hotels into three categories:

• Three Keys are awarded to unique hotels around the world with memorable experiences
• Two Keys are awarded to exceptional offers that warrant a special trip
• One Key is awarded to accommodations distinguished by their quality and personality

Under the People’s Government, led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the commitment to the hotel sector generates sustainable economic development and the State’s international projection. This recognition is a result of this, strengthening Guanajuato’s tourism industry.

Tourism Officials said that Guanajuato’s position as a destination of luxury, culture, and authenticity is also reinforced, attracting discerning travelers from around the world.

The award-winning hotels not only raise tourism standards but also generate a positive impact on the economy of families who make their living from tourism, as well as communities, artisans, and suppliers, aligned with the vision of a government that works for and with its people, said Tourism Officials.
