Markets and tianguis were modernized with ‘My Plaza’

More than 75.8 million pesos were invested in the rehabilitation and construction of markets

10.6 million pesos were invested in production equipment, commercial image and business training

With an investment exceeding 86.4 million pesos, the People’s Government allocated resources from the People’s Markets and Tianguis program “My Plaza” for the improvement, construction, rehabilitation and equipping of markets in 2025.

The State administration, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, reaffirms its commitment to local businesses, bringing development to every corner to generate family prosperity and keep Guanajuato’s identity alive.

The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, noted the importance of informal commerce for its contribution to the local economy due to the volume of employment it generates, benefiting families in Guanajuato.

Very important is the construction and remodeling of markets and plazas in diferente municipalities in Guanajuato. In addition, more than 10.6 million pesos were invested in production equipment, commercial image, and business training.

Through this program, projects are promoted that modernize the physical productive infrastructure, commercial image, local and cultural identity of popular supply centers, as well as productive equipment such as furniture, equipment and tools.

Villasenor Aguilar said that these actions dignify spaces for tenants and consumers, promoting employment, security and a greater influx of customers.

Markets and tiaguis in Guanajuato:

• 440 open-air markets
• 129 public markets
• 4 wholesale markets
• 106,000 vendors in total
• 269,000 economic units operate
• Commerce represents 48.3%
• Employing more than 108,000 people

The “My Plaza” program revitalizes these spaces that are pillars of the economy in different regions of Guanajuato to improve the income and quality of life of the families that are dedicated to this activity.
