“From the depths of our blessed land, you give us a lesson in courage and raise the name of Guanajuato very high, because mining is not only past and tradition, mining is present and future of Guanajuato,” said the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, during the Traditional Breakfast with the Mining Sector of Guanajuato.

In this breakfast, which is part of a deeply rooted tradition in the city of Guanajuato, the State Governor reaffirmed the dialogue and closeness with one of the most emblematic sectors of the State Capital, and recognized the historical contribution of the mining workers.

“In the People’s Government, we will continue to support this industry,” said the Governor and added that this economic sector remains a key driver for the State. Currently, the Secretary of Economy is monitoring 15 strategic mining projects that represent a potential investment of over $1.5 billion and the possibility of generating more than 3,200 direct jobs.

The State of Guanajuato maintains a prominent position at the national level in the production of minerals such as gold (8th place), silver (10th place) and sulfur (5th place).

Modern mining has also evolved towards schemes of greater environmental responsibility, technological innovation, job safety and social engagement, noted the Governor of Guanajuato.

Today, there is increasingly close collaboration of businesses, academia, communities, and authorities to promote sustainable productive activity that generates well-being in the regions where it takes place. The Bajio Mining Cluster is currently being formed.

This meeting brings together representatives from mining companies, trade unions, professionals, academics, and authorities linked to the sector.

This event is closely linked to the history of Guanajuato due to its mining origins, since the discovery of its first deposits in the 16th century.

Thanks to the wealth of mines such as La Valenciana, Rayas, Cata and El Cubo, the city became one of the main mining centers in the world during the viceroyalty era.

Local and State Authorities, as well as education, entrepreneurial and mining sector Authorities were in the breakfast.
