Leon/Gto News
The Walk of the Awakening of the Souls comes back to the streets of Leon, reuniting Leoneses and visitors to share and spend time on the occasion of the Day of the Dead, one of the most representative and alive traditions of Mexican culture.
In 2005, the Cultural Institute of Leon adopted this citizen’s celebration which since it started has caused great interest and participation by Leoneses and visitors, where all participate, groups, families, friends or individuals, many wearing a costume.
After 2 years of inactivity caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, on this 2022 the Awakening of the Souls as part of the XXIII Festival of Death occurs on Tuesday November 1st at 9 pm, starting at the corner of the San Nicolas Cemetery and ending in the Founders Plaza.
The route will start from Hernandez Alvarez Street to go on Mariano Escobedo boulevard, it turns on Juan Valle down to Madero street and to the Main Square and Founders Plaza where the Walk ends.
Citizens can join the Walk from its start or join along the route, without the need to pre-register.
