‘Koe. The voice of the void’ is presented in Purisima

The theater presentation “Koe. The voice of the void” explores the reasons for teenage suicide, it is presented on August 30^th in Purisima del Rincon

Directed by Jazmín Mateos and based on the play by Enrique Olmos de Ita, “Koe. The Voice of the Void” premieres this August 30 at the Teatro de la Ciudad, in Purisima del Rincon, emphasizing on a rarely addressed topic such as adolescent suicide and mental illness.

This new Guanajuato production is the winner of the call for Stage Production Projects launched by the Hellenic Cultural Center and the State Institute of Culture and will tour four other municipalities of Guanajuato after its premiere.

The cast is made up of the young actresses Daniel Mazav and Regina Luna, directed by Jazmin Mateos.

“I researched on the vulnerability of children and adolescents in 2014. I work directly with them, and after the evolution of the pandemic and the effects it had on their mental health, it is mandatory to talk about it, because there are signs that we do not perceive or that we let just go by. It is important to open up these issues, which are essential”, said Jazmin Mateos.

Mateos, who graduated with a degree in Performing Arts and Show Production, mentioned that the kawaii aesthetic that permeates the work is also an opportunity to reflect on the fact that, even though the surrounding scenery is pretty, it does not eliminate the deep emptiness that a teenager can suffer, and as a consequence, lead him to make wrong decisions.

Both the director of “Koe. The Voice of the Void” and its author hope that talking about this topic will help identify the causes of suicide, listen more to children and young people and make them feel that they are not alone with actions, rather than with words.

“Koe. The voice of the void” by the AOPARescena Company is considered for an audience over 13 years old. Admission is free in all the venues where it will be presented.
