The 7th Edition of the Fair of the Walnut and Quince was announced in Jalpa de Canovas to be celebrated on August 24th. Activities for all start at 10 am

Next Sunday August 24, the Magic Town Jalpa de Canovas and Best World Touristic Village, will host the 7th Edition of the Fair of the Walnut and Quince, an event that will present music since 10am, local artistic talent, an imitating performance, the estudiantina from Guanajuato, the presentation of the Verdin’s, Band Imperio and the relaunch of the Video Mapping on the church.
Roberto Garcia Urbano, Mayor of Purisima del Rincon presented in a press conference in the main square of Jalpa de Canovas the details of this event, with Hugo Ramirez Duarte, Director of Tourist Competitiveness, as well as members of the City Council represented by Councilman Salvador Cruz Villegas; the President of the Local DIF, Enriqueta Martinez Lopez and the director of Tourism of Purisima del Rincon, Roberto Camargo Perez.
The main ceremony on Sunday 24th is programmed at 3pm, but the activities, gastronomic, cultural, social and familiar are programmed to start at 10 in the morning and until 8 pm.
There is something special in the 7th Edition of the Fair of Walnut and Quince, since compared to last year the number of registered exhibitors goes from 80 to 120, and the local commerce has a participation that went from 45% in 2024 to 65% in 2025.
Hugo Ramirez Duarte, from the State Tourism office, said that Purisima del Rincon is working year after year to reflect an important culture abroad.
Guanajuato has 6 Magic Towns and Jalpa de Canovas hosts this event with the special local gastronomy, confirming its international projection since the place has an important natural wealth.
Cuquita Lopez Ayala, a traditional cook said, “Jalpa is full of beauty and cozy places, it must have its own place, I am really glad and thankful, for the 13 years that I have been a traditional cook, I understand that this is a big commitment and a responsibility with my community, with my municipality and with my State, because I have had the opportunity to represent the local cuisine in different parts. What can I say, well that our place is meaningful and really human”.
Araceli Canchola, a producer of quince cajeta and a member of the Magic Town Committee said that everything they do in Jalpa de Canovas is made with love and passion, and that is why she sells cajeta to inhabitants who have relatives here but who work in the United States, and now with the training of COFOCE she expects to increase her market.
The 7th Edition of the Walnut and Quince Fair is expected to attract more than the 11,000 visitors and more spending than the $3’390,000 of last year, as well as to create jobs for 140 people.
