With 180 images and 230 photographs the “Guide to Museums de Guanajuato” is the first of its kind in Mexico

The most relevant information about the museums managed by the State Institute of Culture and its different collections, has been gathered for the first time in a practical and accessible way in the “Guide to Museums de Guanajuato”, presented at the Museo Casa Diego Rivera.
The publication, with 180 pages and more than 230 images, concretizes a work spanning almost two years to provide the interested public with a reliable reference on the history, characteristics, and artistic heritage of the seven museums operated by the IEC in Guanajuato, Silao, and Purisima del Rincon.
“For some time we have considered the need to have a volume accessible to the public that would account for the seven museums that hold and exhibit a valuable repository of Mexican art that is part of the cultural heritage that the State of Guanajuato protects.” Said Adriana Camarena de Obeso, general director of the State Institute of Culture, in a text read at the beginning of the event by Arturo Lopez.
The “Guanajuato Museum Guide” includes information on the museums:
- Casa Diego Rivera
- Palacio de los Poderes
- Conde Rul
- Olga Costa – Jose Chavez Morado
- Pueblo de Guanajuato museums
- Jose y Tomas Chavez Morado Museum, in Silao
- Hermenegildo Bustos, in Purisima del Rincon
“We are pleased that the IEC has taken the initiative to publicize these seven magnificent spaces. This guide, as far as we know, is unique in Mexico. We are not aware of any State, at this time, having one like this. It is urgent to regularize the visit to the museums of Mexico, with initiatives like the one represented by this publication”, said Manuel Rios, director of the 101 Museums platform.
The “Guanajuato Museum Guide” is available to the public in the different IEC museums for a price of 200 pesos.
It will be presented with a 20% discount at:
- January 31, at the Hermenegildo Bustos Museum in Purisima del Rincon
- February 10, at the Jose y Tomas Chavez Morado Museum in Silao
- February 17, at the Olga Costa – Jose Chavez Morado Art Museum in Guanajuato
