Through its Inclusive Program, the State Institute of Culture inaugurated the exhibit “From Our Gaze II: Art that Inspires and Transforms”, at the Hermenegildo Bustos Museum of Purisima del Rincon.
The exhibit, which brings together works by 32 artists, is presented in collaboration with the Transformarte Atelier painting workshop, coordinated by Michelle Mena and Cuca Fernandez.
This inclusive pictorial project aims to show the production of those who participate in the workshop, some with intellectual disabilities, who through exercises show a reinterpretation of the work done by important artists such as Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, Frida Kahlo, Matisse, Franz Marc, Rufino Tamayo, among other.
“Art not only enriches culture, but also awakens deep emotions and sensitivities. It is a powerful tool that integrates people and transforms their lives. Through art, we have witnessed the personal growth and joy that our students experience, and these positive changes are transmitted to their families,” say the founders of the workshop.
Transformarte Atelier was created in 2011 by the Leonese artist Michelle Mena and the Chilean Cuca Fernandez, who began with classes for children and adults with different abilities, establishing the principles dedicated to art and culture as a source of knowledge, transmitter of emotional and sensitive values.
It should be noted that the Hermenegildo Bustos Museum also receives the traveling exhibition “A tactile tour through the history of Guanajuato”, with paintings adapted so that visually impaired people can explore and recognize them through touch. Within this project, reproductions of pieces by Diego Rivera, Jose Chavez Morado, Jesus Gallardo, Olga Costa, among other artists, are presented.
The exhibition “From Our Gaze II: Art that Inspires and Transforms” will be on display until January 14, 2024. The general cost of access to the museum, located in front of the Main Square of Purisima de Bustos, is 35 pesos and 15 pesos for students and seniors.
