Health Officials of Guanajuato and Michoacan work together to avoid dengue from spreading

The Health Secretaries of Guanajuato and Michoacan started concrete actions to combat dengue.
Due to the proximity of La Piedad, Michoacan, and the municipality of Penjamo, and the peak dengue season, a work meeting was held by staff of the Sixth Health Jurisdiction and the health services of the neighboring State.
With the goal of monitoring and strengthening dengue prevention and control efforts in both regions, Guanajuato has reported 62 cases of dengue this year, with Silao being one of the municipalities with the highest incidence.
Operational personnel and municipal authorities participated in the effort to coordinate joint strategies to combat this vector-borne disease.
Deborah Duenas, Head of the Sixth Health Jurisdiction, highlighted the importance of this combined effort to protect the health of the population:
“It’s very important to keep in mind that community participation is essential for achieving this and achieving excellent results for our municipalities. Teamwork always strengthens us, and this is something we take into consideration in both jurisdictions,” said Deborah.
Among the agreements established, the coordination of junk removal campaigns in La Piedad and Penjamo stands out, as well as scheduling fogging, sharing epidemiological information, and promoting community cleanup efforts in high-risk areas.
This meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both municipalities and their respective health systems to work together, across territorial boundaries, to safeguard the well-being of their citizens.
