Guanajuato is preparing to face the challenges posed by the upcoming renegotiation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

In order to analyze the national economic context to strengthen the State’s competitiveness and attractiveness in the face of nearshoring, the conference ‘Implications of the 2026 USMCA Negotiations for the State of Guanajuato’ was held, presented by Roberto Zapata Barradas.

The State administration, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, remains committed to making Guanajuato a competitive, innovative, and peaceful State, based on an economic policy grounded in hard statistical data and a balance between growth and inclusion.

The head of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, emphasized that strategic analysis based on solid data positions Guanajuato at the forefront of anticipating regulatory and negotiation challenges.

“Since the beginning of this administration, the economic policy of Guanajuato has been guided by a clear principle: making decisions based on statistical data, with a vision for the future and a human touch that maintains a balance between growth and inclusion. We know that prosperity is not improvised; it is designed, analyzed, and executed with intelligence and purpose,” said Villasenor.

The Official added that more working groups will be held to hear different voices from the productive sector, including the 12 clusters in Guanajuato, to continue gathering ideas and contributions that will add to this analysis.

During the conference, the current economic environment and its implications for Guanajuato were presented, in addition to identifying opportunities to strengthen productivity, diversify markets, and anticipate international trade scenarios

Villasenor Aguilar noted Guanajuato’s economic leadership in sectors such as automotive, leather and footwear, textile, agro-food, and metalwork, which take advantage of the ecosystems of prosperity and work in coordination with the Economic Turbine to maximize the relocation of investments in the face of the USMCA review.

Guanajuato firmly assumes its economic leadership in the face of the 2026 USMCA review and is ready to transform the recommendations into concrete actions that ensure a prosperous future based on talent, innovation, and teamwork, said Villasenor.

The People’s Government, through the Secretary of Economy, reaffirms its commitment to prepare companies and clusters for the consolidation of sustainable and competitive industrial development.
