As part of the work tour in Japan, the Government of Guanajuato reinforces its strategy of attracting investment, agro-food development and technological cooperation, consolidating the State as a benchmark for competitiveness in the international arena.

The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, held a meeting with the Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture, Hidehiko Yuzaki, in which they reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the twinning ties between the two regions.
Since the signing of the Friendship Agreement in 2014, collaboration between Guanajuato and Hiroshima has fostered technological exchange, job training, and economic development. During this decade of collaborative work, more than 2,000 Japanese citizens have made Guanajuato their home, contributing to its cultural and social diversity.

Currently, Japan is Guanajuato’s main trading partner, with 145 projects representing an investment of over $8.989 billion. These investments have generated more than 48,000 formal jobs, positively impacting the lives of thousands of Guanajuatense families.
Also, cooperation strategies have been consolidated in key sectors such as manufacturing, education, and agrobusiness.

“Guanajuato and Japan share a vision of progress. Together, we have advanced toward common goals that benefit our communities,” said Secretary Villasenor Aguilar, representing Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.
In Osaka, Secretary Villasenor Aguilar met with executives from Senyo, a leading precision bearing manufacturer, to explore new projects to strengthen the global automotive supply chain. Senyo’s cutting-edge technology represents a key opportunity to increase the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in Guanajuato.

The Secretary of Agriculture, Marisol Suarez Correa, is leading an agenda focused on opening new markets for Guanajuato’s agricultural products in Asia.
Strategic meetings have already been held with research centers such as NAGASE Corp. and Towing Corp. to evaluate the implementation of biocarbon in the soils of Guanajuato, improving water efficiency and microbiological development in crops.

In addition, the Guanajuatense delegation is participating in FOODEX Japan, one of the most important fairs in the agro-food sector, with the aim of:
- Contact Asian companies interested in agricultural and livestock supply projects with Guanajuatense producers
- Identify candidate companies to invest in Guanajuato
- Design a strategy with the Mexican Embassy in Japan to promote Guanajuato as a strategic destination for agricultural investment
- Promote the participation of Asian pavilions at the 2025 Agro-Food Expo, focusing on irrigation technology and sustainable production
- Access specialized financing options to facilitate access to working capital for producers
With this tour, the Government of Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to strengthen its relationship with Japan, promoting the growth of the agro-food sector, attracting investment, and technological development to improve the quality of life for Guanajuatenses.
