The People’s Government, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, reaffirms its commitment to strengthen its Magic Towns by joining the launch of the national strategy “Avanzamos por Mexico”.

An alliance promoted by the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico in collaboration with BBVA, which seeks to modernize, include and generate new opportunities for the country’s tourist communities.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, noted that this strategy represents a comprehensive vision to strengthen tourism from the local level, through tools that promote competitiveness, digitalization and economic development of destinations.
“We are brought together today by an alliance that represents the future, modernization, and opportunities for our communities. It also represents a commitment to continue strengthening our Magic Towns, which are an essential part of the identity of Guanajuato and Mexico,” said the Secretary.

Robles said that, since the beginning of the State administration, they have worked closely with the municipalities to support the development of the Magic Towns, addressing their needs and consolidating a continuous improvement model that prioritizes the identity and well-being of the population.
“Tourism only makes sense when it reflects on the well-being of our people and the preservation of our identity,” said Robles Leon.
The general director of Social Management of Destinations, Marte Luis Molina Orozco, pointed out that the “Avanzamos por Mexico” strategy aims to boost local economic growth and position Mexico as a global, modern and inclusive tourist destination, with actions focused on the 177 Magic Towns and 73 tourist locations in Mexico.

Through this public-private partnership, Authorities promote:
- The digitization of the sector, financial inclusion, education and tourism promotion, with direct benefits such as promotional campaigns for the “Mexico” and “Magic Towns” brands in thousands of physical and digital locations nationwide.
- Financial education training for students, SMEs and tourism service providers
- Implementation of digital tools to facilitate electronic payments in tourism businesses and services

Also, the strategy includes five fundamental pillars such as:
- Promotion for travelers
- Promotion of brands
- Digitalization of the sector
- Local economic development
- Community financial education
- The goal is to generate more employment, greater economic benefits and better opportunities for communities

Guanajuato has six Magic Towns that are consolidating as national benchmarks:
- Jalpa de Canovas
- Dolores Hidalgo Cradle of National Independence
- Mineral de Pozos
- Salvatierra
- Yuriria
- Comonfort

The case of Jalpa de Canovas was highlighted, recognized by UN Tourism and the University of Lucerne as a model of sustainable rural tourism; as well as Comonfort, which promotes its artisanal, gastronomic and wellness identity as a tourist differentiator.
“We are not only addressing the present of our Magic Towns, we are also building their permanence and strengthening for the future,” said Secretary Lupita Robles, who reiterated that the State will maintain and strengthen these Magic Town designations, consolidating destinations with identity, order and community participation.

The growth in the tourism sector translates into opportunities for traditional cooks, artisans, service providers, young professionals and all actors that make up the tourism value chain.
Guanajuato strengthens its position as a competitive, innovative, and socially conscious destination, demonstrating that tourism is a real tool for generating well-being and opening new paths.
