Guanajuato maintains the designation of its six Magic Towns, following the national evaluation carried out in 2025 on the 177 Magic Towns of Mexico, as part of the National Strategy of Magic Towns, promoted by the Government of Mexico through the Secretary of Tourism.

The six Magic Towns of Guanajuato:
- Jalpa de Canovas (Purisima del Rincon), Mineral de Pozos (San Luis de la Paz), Yuriria, Salvatierra, Comonfort and Dolores Hidalgo Cradle of National Independence

All were part of the quantitative and qualitative review process of files, complying with the criteria established at the federal level to maintain this distinction.
As a follow-up to this evaluation and with the aim of strengthening the tourism performance of these localities, the People’s Government led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo and the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato (SECTURI) began a working tour with the municipal governments of the six Magic Towns, to jointly implement the Plan for Strengthening the Magic Towns of Guanajuato.

These works are carried out in coordination with the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, through the General Directorate of Social Management of Destinations, and are framed within the National Strategy for the Strengthening of Magic Towns (ENFPM).

The strengthening plans are structured around five guiding principles, aligned with both the federal strategy and the State Tourism Program of the People’s Government 2025–2030:
- Axis I. Planning and Sustainable Development of Tourism
- Axis II. Investment, Infrastructure and Equipment
- Axis III. Training, Professionalization and Quality
- Axis IV. Comprehensive Promotion and Advertising
- Axis V. Marketing
Timely and well-supported intervention in these areas will allow for the consolidation of more competitive, organized, and sustainable Pueblos Magicos (Magic Towns), with direct benefits for their local communities.

Since the beginning of the People’s Government, Guanajuato has promoted a fundamental change in its tourism policy, placing identity at the center of development.
This approach is the guiding principle of the State Tourism Program, which seeks to strengthen the “Pueblos Magicos” (Magic Towns) and develop municipalities in their tourism vocation, and also to ensure that tourism generates economic activity, but also pride, sense of belonging, and balanced development in the communities and especially in the “Pueblos Magicos.”

Under this vision, the Magic Towns of Guanajuato are consolidated as living spaces of identity, where tourism is linked with history, culture, traditions and community life.
