Infrastructure and professionalism stand out in the six specialized destinations for this type of tourism
More than 198 events in 2023 position Guanajuato as a benchmark in the MICE segment

With a solid commitment to promote reunions tourism, Guanajuato has established itself as one of the five main destinations in Mexico for congresses, conventions, exhibitions and incentive trips. The State has world-class infrastructure and outstanding professionalism in the service of MICE events.
The recent Meetings Tourism Workshop, offered by Eduardo Yarto Aponte, Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion, representing the State Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles Leon, brought together more than 30 representatives of destinations and tourism organizations, including the municipalities of Leon, Irapuato, Silao, Celaya, San Miguel de Allende and the Tourism Promotion Council of Guanajuato.
During the workshop, key tools were provided to continue attracting events with great economic and social impact.
With these training sessions in the New Beginning of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the participation of the members of the sector in decision-making is encouraged. The voice of service providers, businessmen and local residents will be considered in the design of public policies.
Guanajuato offers 10 main venues, including:
- The Poliforum Leon
- The Guanajuato Convention Center
- The León MX District (a unique complex in Mexico with 67 hectares)
Guanajuato offers more than 83 thousand square meters of exhibition space. These facilities and the experience of the service providers have been fundamental for the State to host events such as the World Meetings Forum, the Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit and the National Congress of the Meetings Industry -CNIR-.
In the last year Guanajuato’s MICE destinations reported:
- 198 events
- Leon stands out with 101
- San Miguel de Allende with 60
- Guanajuato City with 16
Participation in national and international specialized events has strengthened the promotion of the State, generating business opportunities and attracting large-scale events.
The creation of associations such as AMIRE, MPI Bajio Mexicano Chapter and ABER GTO reinforce the collaboration and professionalization of the sector, while industrial clusters in areas such as information technology, automotive and aerospace contribute to the diversification of meeting tourism in Guanajuato.
Guanajuato positions itself as a strategic destination for the MICE segment, consolidating as a national leader in meetings tourism with an innovative and high-impact vision.
