With a production of 1.5 million liters of wine and sales of more than 700 million pesos, Guanajuato is consolidating as one of the strongest regions of oenology and viticulture in Mexico.
Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo strongly promotes strategies to enhance regional economic development with activities that generate jobs in all areas of the State in addition to betting on economic diversification.
Ramon Alfaro Gomez, head of the Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development -SDES-, explained that these activities, in addition to representing a deep-rooted cultural legacy, are economic pillars with economic benefits and added value since they currently generate more than 2 thousand direct and indirect jobs.
Oenology and viticulture are sectors that not only satisfy the demand for quality products, but also promote the generation and preservation of jobs in various areas, from production and cultivation to marketing and wine tourism.
Alfaro Gomez added that with the presence of more than 50 wineries and more than 530 hectares of vineyards, Guanajuato is consolidating itself as a benchmark in wine production to build a stronger and more diversified local economy.
Guanajuato labels have some 400 national and international medals, of which 24 were earned at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles last June, an evenyt hosted by Guanajuato.
The wine value chain in Guanajuato has more than 100 members including wineries, restaurants, hotels, service providers, transportation, among others, who generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
