The forecast for tourist activity during the National Holidays shows growth compared to the previous year

More than 204 thousand visitors will celebrate the Independence Festivities in the State of Guanajuato, generating an economic impact of more than 482 million pesos, both figures showing a growth of 2% and 4%, respectively, compared to last year.
The Guanajuato State Tourism Observatory -OTEG-, an agency in charge of the Ministry of Tourism, predicted that during the Mexican Independence celebrations that run from Friday, September 13 to Monday, September 16 -according to the School Calendar- the Guanajuato municipalities will also receive more than 42 thousand tourists, 2% more compared to 2023.
Tourists will arrive at 1 to 5 star hotels, registering an average hotel occupancy of 38%, a figure that represents more than 29 thousand occupied rooms, 10% more than last year.
The national holidays have a special flavor in Guanajuato, since it was in Dolores Hidalgo, the Cradle of National Independence, where the fight for Independence was born.
Dolores Hidalgo CIN is one of the main destinations to visit this long weekend. According to OTEG, the municipality expects to receive more than 10 thousand visitors and more than 1,700 tourists, both figures indicating a growth of 12% compared to last year’s festivities.
Leon will be the most visited municipality on this date. In these four days, the city expects an economic spillover of more than 135 million pesos, 4% more than the previous year. In terms of visitors, the arrival of more than 56 thousand people is expected, and more than 14 thousand tourists in 8 thousand 978 occupied rooms registering 56% hotel occupancy, the four figures show a growth of 1% and 2%, respectively, compared to last year.
The two World Heritage Cities: San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato Capital are also top destinations to visit during these dates.
San Miguel de Allende expects to receive more than 22 thousand visitors and more than 7 thousand tourists, figures that show a growth of 1% compared to last year. More than 5 thousand hotel rooms will be occupied during these days, registering an occupancy of 56%, both figures show an increase of 12% and 2% compared to last year, respectively.
Guanajuato City expects to receive more than 25 thousand visitors and more than 9 thousand tourists, both figures showing an increase of 1%; the rooms that will be occupied will be more than 4 thousand, registering an occupancy of 47%, both figures showing an increase of 2%.
On the night of the 15th, with a representation of Miguel Hidalgo’s call to fight for Independence -performed by the Governor of the State of Guanajuato- the cities are painted in the colors of the flag and with decorations alluding to the national symbols; in addition, there is a large popular festival in the main gardens, with music, food, fireworks and dancing.
