The Institute for Innovation and the Government of the People continues to promote the digitalization and competitiveness of Guanajuato, proof of this is that Guanajuato obtains the first place nationally in Open Government, companies with intermediate technological tools, cybersecurity actions in companies and budget for science, technology and innovation institutions.
These results are informed through the State Digital Development Index -IDDE- of the Mexico Digital Center. This index is a strategic tool that allows measuring the level of progress in the digital transformation of the States of Mexico, offering a detailed view of the digital capacity and maturity of each region.
The State Digital Development Index -IDDE- 2024 is designed as a comprehensive assessment tool that allows measuring the level of digitalization and technological transformation in each State of Mexico. It is oriented towards the construction of effective public policies and the promotion of competitiveness.
The IDDE 2024 reported notable progress in Guanajuato in the innovation and technological adoption pillar, where it is ranked fifth nationally.
Regarding the innovation sub-pillar, Guanajuato has reached first place nationally, reflecting a progress of six positions.
This was the result of promoting talent in the STEM field, budget allocated to science, technology and innovation and the inventive capacity that occurs in patents.
Guanajuato has encouraged the adoption of technology, which has positioned it as the third State in Mexico in terms of adoption of new technologies. In addition, Guanajuato is a leading state in terms of cybersecurity, ranking third in Mexico.
The methodological design of this index focuses on the analysis of 71 variables grouped into 12 sub-pillars and distributed across three main pillars:
- Infrastructure
- Digitalization of People and Society
- Innovation and Adoption of Technology in Companies
Thanks to these efforts, the Innovation Institute works very hard to continue being a key player in the digitalization of Guanajuato, promoting public policies and driving the democratization of technologies to achieve a more digital Guanajuato.
“In the innovation pillar, the state of Guanajuato rose 6 positions and is the leader in innovation, followed by CDMX and Chihuahua. Guanajuato is one of the leading states in cybersecurity, only below CDMX and Nuevo Leon”, said the director of the Mexico Digital Center, Salma Jalife.
The IDDE 2024 incorporates key adjustments to improve its accuracy and relevance. The analysis of cybersecurity in companies has been enriched and a new indicator on the affordability of computing equipment has been added, recognizing its importance for learning and access to emerging technologies.
Also, measurements of digitalization in specific sectors have been incorporated, providing a broader perspective on business opportunities and the adoption of technology.
