The Governor of Guanajuato hails the close relation and collaboration between Guanajuato and USA

Both Officials are witnesses to the start of operations of the Building of Services of Scientific Investigation of the Attorney General of Guanajuato

Guanajuato and the United States of America strengthen their friendship and cooperation in trade and investment with the visit to the State of Christopher Landau, the US Ambassador to Mexico.

Many activities

The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo welcomed the Ambassador in the Government Palace.

Both Officials talked at the Governor’s Office and then both had reunions where some State secretaries were present, among them, the Secretary of Government, Luis Ernesto Ayala Torres; of Sustainable Economic Development, Mauricio Usabiaga; and Migration, Juan Hernandez.

An important partner

In the reunion it was noted that the United States is the main trade partner of Guanajuato. As much as 80% of exports from Guanajuato go to US markets. The sectors with more exchange are: automotive, food, agro-industry, personal care and shoes.

In the last 20 years, companies from the US have made investments in Guanajuato for more than 9 thousand 144 million dollars, which have resulted in more than 43 thousand 327 new jobs.

Host cities

In Guanajuato we have the second largest community of retired Americans in Mexico and there is an important presence of immigrants from Guanajuato in the US.

The Institute of Planning, Statistics and Geography of Guanajuato (IPLANEG) estimates that there are more than one million people who were born in Guanajuato and are now living in the United States.

Support in Scientific Investigation

The Governor, the Ambassador and the General Attorney of Guanajuato, Carlos Zamarripa Aguirre, witnessed the start of operations of the Premises of Services of Scientific Investigation of the General Attorney of Guanajuato.

Christopher Landau recognized the State of Guanajuato as a model in collaboration between Mexico and the USA in matters of security and economic development and he noted that with Guanajuato the US has a close collaboration in matters of security and economic development.

“I want to congratulate Guanajuatenses because they are working shoulder to shoulder to improve the whole State and they should be proud of the State of Guanajuato, for me it is a model for Mexico”

The Building of Services of Scientific Investigation of the Attorney General of Guanajuato, is the result of a solid collaboration that has been established with Guanajuato in training, certification and providing of equipment in matters of security and procurement of justice.

“The Government of the United States has not stopped supporting Guanajuato and a proof of it are the 11 laboratories of different forensic disciplines that are recognized internationally, thanks to the joint work of the Merida Initiative and Mexican Authorities; Guanajuato is a State where you clearly perceive the integration between both countries”, said the Ambassador.

Results of collaboration

The State Governor, said in his turn that Guanajuato has had the support and the collaboration of the Embassy of the United States of America. Given this collaboration, the State has the best police corps in Mexico and this is thanks to the participation of organisms like the Commission of Accreditation for Agencies of Application of Law (CALEA).

“If today the penitentiary System of Guanajuato is one of the best evaluated of Mexico, it is because of the training and certification of the Association of American Correctionals (ACA); if today Guanajuato is the State with a lower level of impunity, it is in much part because of the training in the International Program of Assistance and Training in Criminal Investigation of the Department of Justice of the United States”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.

Among the best in the world

The Governor said that the Building of Services of Scientific Investigation is compared to the best in the world, and it has the support of the Embassy of the United States of America, which supported with equipment for the laboratories.

“These are the alliances and cooperation that Mexico and the United States need to go ahead in the route to progress and peace and calm; agreements of cooperation that are a sign that Mexico and the United States are not only economic and strategic associates; we are also good neighbors and solidary friends”, said the Governor.

A complete Investigation Center

The Building of Scientific Investigation includes forensic laboratories of Chemistry, Genetics, Ballistics, Dactyloscopy, Documents and Information Technology, all this spaces are internationally certified by the organism of Accreditation of the United States, the ANAB, under the norms ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020.

The Governor of Guanajuato and the US Ambassador in Mexico also visited the building of the C5i, where they looked around one of the most important centers of its kind in Mexico.

Rodriguez Vallejo and Christopher Landau visited the plant of the company NUCOR, with its headquarters at Parque Industrial Fipasi in Irapuato, the US company has generated many jobs for Guanajuatenses.

Guanajuato, given its location, logistics and quality of workforce has established itself as an attractive State for investors from USA.
