The government of Guanajuato remains on alert and on the lookout for the migrant community living in the United States after the intense rains of recent days and floods in Texas.

Juan Hernandez, head of the Migrant Secretary, said that the instruction of Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, governor of Guanajuato, is to assist each and all of the needs of paisanos in the US.

“We are very aware of what could arise in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in North Texas due to the rains and flooding in the last 2 days. We know that in that area it has rained up to 400 millimeters in a single day, more than it normally rains in a whole year”, said Hernandez.

Juan Hernandez said that in addition to this, Texas has been experiencing a severe drought for 2 months in that region, also because of the overflows caused by heavy rains, more than 1,480 flights were canceled in the neighboring country to the north.

“We are in contact with the clubs, the migrant leaders and with the Mexican consulate in Texas”, informed Hernandez.
