Guanajuato is preparing to be filled with tradition, color, and culture with the arrival of one of Mexico’s most iconic celebrations: the Day of the Dead and SECTURI is already working to promote the tradition

Under the slogan “Live your traditions in Guanajuato”, from October 24 to November 3, 2025, more than 15 municipalities in the State will present a unique agenda of activities that will pay tribute to life and those who have already departed.

This festival not only represents a cultural expression recognized worldwide as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, but also a highly significant tourist attraction that strengthens the identity of communities and promotes Guanajuato as a cultural destination par excellence.

For 11 days, plazas, streets, historic sites, and open spaces across the different regions of Guanajuato will be filled with activities such as:

  • Monumental altars, traditional offerings, catrina parades, live music, night tours, artistic expressions, and a vast culinary showcase

Each of these events will allow visitors and locals alike to experience the magic of a festival that connects the present with ancestral roots.

The programming is designed so that each region contributes its own essence to this great celebration.

North Central Region:

  • Guanajuato City (October 29 to November 2)
  • Leon with its Festival of Death
  • Silao (October 24 to November 3)
  • Purisima del Rincon (October 29 to November 2)

Northern Region:

  • San Miguel de Allende (October 31 to November 2)
  • Dolores Hidalgo CIN with its 3rd Festival of Death (October 30 to November 2)

Northeast Region:

  • Doctor Mora, Mineral de Pozos, and Victoria with unique festivals and performances from October 31 to November 2

South-Southeast Region:

  • Yuriria, Celaya, Valle de Santiago, Jerecuaro, Moroleon, Tarandacuao, and Tarimoro, with activities that combine ritual, innovation, and tradition, from October 30 to November 2

In addition to enhancing cultural pride, the festival generates significant economic and tourism benefits, attracting both national and international tourists who find in Guanajuato authentic experiences, hospitality, and an environment enriched by art and tradition.

The Day of the Dead Festival in Guanajuato is consolidating as a large-scale event that not only strengthens cultural and community identity but also promotes the State as a national and international benchmark in cultural tourism.
