To strengthen the work of the National Coordination of Offices for Migrant Assistance –CONOFAM- and expand its action networks at a global level in favor of compatriots abroad, this group appointed Juan Hernández , as the new holder for the period 2022-2024.
The also Secretary for Migrants and International Link of Guanajuato, during the protest that took place in the Congress of the Union in Mexico City, said that Mexico is a land of Migrants and that there is not a single path that does not exist been a path for the thousands of people who year after year seek to improve their lives.
“CONOFAM has become an unconditional companion of migrants on the path they have chosen to live better. If something makes CONOFAM strong, it is the sum of wills regardless of ideologies, even partisan ideologies. In Guanajuato we have had the confidence and commitment of our governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo to not leave migrants alone”.
He said that the head of the state executive created the Secretariat for Migrants and International Liaison to have a solid institutional structure, capable of responding to the needs of Guanajuatenses living abroad and their families.
Hernández said that proof of the above is the relationship they have with all the members of CONOFAM and international organizations such as the International Organization for Migration, IOM and the UN office for refugees in Mexico.
“That is why the commitment is to go hand in hand with the 32 states of the Country because accompaniment is the first line in the battles that have to be fought. We are a land of migrants and I invite you to continue with the commitment and pride that makes a brother, let’s work together, brothers of CONOFAM”, said Hernandez.
Rosa María González Azcárraga, deputy of the Union Congress and president of the Migration Affairs Commission, recognized the effort made by States and Municipalities to attend to the flows of people who are in transit, destination and return.
“This reflects the importance of addressing the issue from the local, this makes our activities complementary. From the States, the plural effort between levels of government and authorities that have to do with the phenomenon of migration is better observed”, said Gonzalez.
The legislator said that one of the realities of federalism is that it builds institutions that strengthen each other, with the differentiation of powers, the autonomy of each State is encouraged to establish union agreements, more effective and faster that benefit society.
Representatives of Migrant Assistance offices and Secretaries of various States of Mexico were present virtually in this ceremony.
