The Guanajuato International Airport (BJX) is ranked among the Top 10 airports with the highest number of passengers served in Mexico during 2025, consolidating the State as one of the most dynamic tourist destinations and air connectivity hubs in the country.

According to the Tourism Indicators for January–October 2025 of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), during the first ten months of the year, Mexico’s airports served 157.2 million domestic and international passengers, representing a 2.5% increase.

The Guanajuato Airport registered 2.7 million passengers, ranking 10th nationally, alongside terminals such as Mexico City International Airport (AICM), Cancun, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, pointed out that this result is a reflection of the sustained work in promotion, connectivity and strengthening of the tourism offer in all regions of Guanajuato.

“Guanajuato being in the national Top 10 is no coincidence; it is the result of a clear strategy to promote tourism, the diversification of segments, and the trust that visitors have in our State,” said Robles.

Currently, Guanajuato International Airport operates 12 international routes and 10 domestic routes.

The head of SECTURI noted that the growth in air traffic goes hand in hand with the strengthening of events, festivals, gastronomic, cultural, sports and meetings tourism, as well as with a permanent agenda of national and international promotion.

“We continue working to make Guanajuato an increasingly accessible, competitive and attractive destination; every flight that arrives is an opportunity for the well-being of our communities and for those who live off tourism,” said Robles.

Nationally, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, noted the strength of domestic tourism as one of the main drivers of air travel growth.

“157.2 million domestic and international passengers arrived at or passed through our airports, reflecting a 2.5% increase. But above all, domestic tourism is very important: 80% of Mexicans travel within our own country, and that explains the growth in these figures,” said Rodriguez.

Between January and October 2025, 92.6 million Mexicans traveled by air, representing 3 million more than in the same period of 2024, with an increase of 3.3%, confirming the strength of the domestic market.
