Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, led the ceremony of the 214th anniversary of the Call for Independence in the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows.

The Governor, from the door of the Dolores Church, paid tribute to the beginning of the Insurgent movement and recalled the call of Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla to rise up in arms, that early morning of September 16, 1810.

In the atrium of the Parish, the Governor rang the Dolores bell and launched the Call for Independence speech.

“Mexicans! Long live the heroes who gave us our country and freedom! Long live Hidalgo! Long live Morelos! Long live Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez! Long live Allende! Long live Aldama! Long live the young people who fight for Mexico! Long live Dolores Hidalgo, the Cradle of National Independence! Long live Guanajuato! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico!”, called the Governor.

After the Grito, the State Governor waved the flag and rang the bell. Immediately afterward, the National Anthem was sung and the Governor handed the flag to the Military Escort for safekeeping. After the solemn acts came the fireworks display with music by Jose Alfredo Jimenez.

Rodríguez Vallejo later went to the Independence Museum where he symbolically freed the prisoners.

With the Governor in this ceremony was the President of the State DIF, Adriana Ramirez Lozano; the Mayor of Dolores Hidalgo, Adrian Hernandez Alejandri; as well as the Brigadier General with a Diploma in the General Staff, Francisco Javier Zubia Gonzalez, Commander of the 16th Military Zone; the President of the Congress of the State of Guanajuato, Bricio Balderas Alvarez; and the President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the State, Hector Tinajero Munoz.
