The State Coordination of Civil Protection carries out preventive actions, monitoring and overflights upon the discharge of surpluses from the El Realito dam, in the municipality of San Luis de la Paz

The Secretary of State Public Security, through the State Civil Protection Coordination in collaboration with the National Water Commission and municipal authorities of Northeast Guanajuato, carried out actions in response to the discharge of surpluses from the El Realito Dam, towards the Santa Maria River and its tributaries, maintaining close communication with the local governments of San Luis de la Paz, Victoria and Xichu.
Given the increase in influx in the rivers that discharge into El Realito, constant monitoring is maintained in the upstream communities in order to keep them safe.
The monitored communities are:
- Paso en Medio, Soledad del Rio, Maguey Blanco, El Higueron, Las Cruces, El Guamuchil, La Cuesta, Charcas, El Limoncito, Paso de la Cruz, La Angostura, Los Granjenos, La Garza, Paso de Guadalupe, all of these from the municipality of San Luis de la Paz
The vulnerable locations downstream are:
- El Realito dam, in San Luis de la Paz
- In the municipality of Victoria, monitoring work is also carried out in the communities El Capulin, Las Adjuntas, El Apartadero, San Judas Tadeo, La Dalia, Monte Nuevo, El Custodio, Mina del Refugio, La Guadalupana, Paso de Macuala, El Sabino, Rancho Viejo
- In Xichu, monitoring is carried out in the Los Melendres community
The monitoring work had the participation of a state force composed of 23 elements from both the State Coordination of Civil Protection, as well as the Municipal Civil Protection Units of the municipalities of San Luis de la Paz, Victoria and Xichu, in addition to be supported by 15 vehicles.
