At FITUR the International Tourism Fair, the Secretary of Tourism talked to the press about the model of formation of human capital
Maria Teresa Matamoros Montes said that in Guanajuato we bet on certification of service providers because they are the ones who cause an experience to the visitors

Maria Teresa Matamoros Montes, the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato informed in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain about the program “Stars Guanajuato”.
This program by the Secretary of Tourism makes of Guanajuato the first state of Mexico to set up a model of formation of human capital for the tourism sector.
“Competitiveness is very important in the State for the tourist service providers to find possibilities of funding, of financing and training; this certification cointributes to build solid companies”, said Matamoros Montes in the stand of Guanajuato at FITUR.
The goals of “Stars Guanajuato” is to improve the experience for the visitor, increase income (for service providers, entrepreneurs and destinations), and offer in the tourist sector an opportunity to develop a professional career and improve the environment of the tourist service providers.
“We believe that now, when a tourist has so many possibilities just as we are witnessing at FITUR, we should make sure that the tourist destinations we have are not only nice, but the experience the visitors have should be of great significance”, said Matamoros Montes.
Many already certified
In December 2019, the program Stars Guanajuato granted 682 certifications to service providers like, waiters,
Hostess, clerks, bellmen, porters, concierges, tourist guides, salespeople, transport operators, tourist informators, among others.
Maria Teresa Matamoros Montes also said that work continues in infrastructure in order to “rescue the historical sites that are attractive in many municipalities in Guanajuato”.
