The Guanajuato Secretary of Education is betting on innovation in the academic training of girls, boys and adolescents through the implementation of avant-garde education models. These models seek to provide teachers with the necessary tools for their effective application in the classroom.
An example of this was the recent workshop held at Deportiva Valle de Santiago, where some 300 preschool educators participated in a rally. During this event, they were taught the fundamentals of the Joy of Moving method, which is based on physical play to stimulate motor skills, cognitive ability, creativity and other essential life skills for students.
The Joy of Moving method is designed to address the four fundamental skill blocks in physical activity:
- Physical fitness
- Motor coordination
- Cognitive function
- Creativity and life skills
At the Elpidia Vera primary school, a sample of teaching tools was presented that promote learning in a playful way, making it easy for student to interact in and out the classroom.
Meanwhile, at the Benjamín Lara y S. Secondary School, an exhibit was presented that highlights the history of the institution, which has 80 years of training citizens committed to their community and their State.
In addition, in high school, work carried out by students with the guidance of their teachers was exhibited, such as mathematics projects, principles of applied robotics and irrigation systems with varied programming focused on different crops.
At CONALEP, students along with their teachers exhibited the progress made in robotics, generating great interest among young people and motivating them to actively participate in the development of regional and national projects and competitions.
Two disciplines in which they have specialized to compete were especially highlighted:
- Sumo, which consists of the confrontation of robots within a designated area
- Line following, where robots are programmed to perform specific tasks by following a line
Education authorities highlighted the importance of seeking and applying transformative education models that stimulate students’ interest in exploring knowledge in various areas, such as:
- Science, technology, sports and the humanistics
