Leon/Gto News
This year, the FORO GO 2024 “Infinite Possibilities” will bring great and renowned speakers, some of them greats in athletics, who will share their success story that will motivate entrepreneurs to go further.
Carl Lewis and Cecilia Tamayo will be some of the speakers that Foro Go 2024 will bring to this next edition, to be held on October 16 and 17 at Poliforum Leon.
Carl Lewis, nicknamed “the son of the wind” and recognized as a legend of athletics; at the age of nineteen, he was part of the American Olympics team, however, the boycott of the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980 prevented him from competing.
He made his Olympic debut in Los Angeles 1984, where his participation earned him four gold medals, equaling Jesse Owens’ record from 1936.
Lewis continued his dominance at the Olympic Games in Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992, collecting a total of ten medals, nine of them gold. At the world championships, he also excelled with eight gold medals and one bronze.
Carl Lewis continues to impact the world in retirement. He founded his own charity, The Carl Lewis Foundation, through which he supports causes such as the Wendy Marx Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and many more. He has also served as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Food and Agriculture, participating in initiatives such as the Race for Food and the 1billionhungry Project.
Lewis has been a motivational speaker at numerous events around the world. His story of success and overcoming challenges continues to inspire many. Carl’s legacy is intertwined with that of Cecilia Tamayo, a talented Mexican sprinter originally from Leon, Guanajuato, who recently participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Cecilia met Lewis at the University of Houston, where she is studying Computer Systems Engineering. Under his guidance, she has broken the Mexican 200-meter record three times, with her best time of 22.45 seconds at the 2023 World Athletics in Budapest. This feat led her to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games, ending Mexico’s 56-year absence from the 200-meter dash at the Olympic Games.
Part of this inspirational, motivational and success story will be shared with us by Cecilia and Carl, sports legends, at Foro Go Infinite Possibilities this coming October 16 and 17 at Poliforum Leon. The invitation is there to be part of this great event.
