“Citizen of the Year” is awarded

The service to society and their effort is recognized

The award recognizes the trajectory of citizens whose activity is outstanding socially, in public service, in the academy, sports and entrepreneurship in Guanajuato and Queretaro

“Guanajuato is a State that wants to be a protagonist of the development not only in economy but also socially”, said the Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.

The Governor was present in the ceremony to grant the award “Citizen of the Year” an event that is promoted by Grupo Salinas and is given to citizens from Guanajuato and Queretaro.

The Governor noted that in Guanajuato authorities work in a solidary way with citizens to generate social, educative and training programs and projects to support the most vulnerable population.

Well used funds

“Entrepreneurs helped us to rise up the Tax on the Payroll to 2.3 per cent and that .3% will be managed in a trust fund to support social projects like the ones that are awarded today”, said the Governor.

Rodriguez Vallejo said that awards like “Citizen of the Year” represent an opportunity to increase the participation of people in programs that help generate better living conditions for families.

“These programs invite us to reflect on what is happening in our country, today we need of these good stories, because sometimes we are consumed in bad stories, and I think that these stories of success and love, are the ones that must help us put our country in the vanguard”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.

The awarded

In this 2020 edition of the award The Consultive Council of Grupo Salinas granted the prize as “Citizen of the Year” to:

– Andres Govela Gutierrez for his noted work in education and formation of people.

– Mara Isabel Garcia Bautista, from Celaya is a visually impaired tennis player who played for Mexico in the World Summer Games 2019 in Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi, where she won the Bronce medal in pairs and gold medal in singles.

– Also awarded was Mario Plascencia Saldana, Founding counselor of the Educative and Cultural Investigation and Promotion Center “CIPEC” where they promote labor training and educative programs.

From Queretaro:

– Jesus Miguel Leon Silva, who created the Project “BiodiQro”, a company that collects burned vegetable oil to turn it into Biodiesel.

– Adriana Castro de Alverde who with the foundation “Ale”, supports people who need some transplant and do campaigns to promote donation of organs.
