The first university tournament Battle of Robots Liga Gto arrives in Guanajuato
20 teams representing higher level institutions of the State will participate

In a press conference, the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, in coordination with Juventudes GTO; GTO Idea; IECA and TV4 announced the first Gto League Robot Battle university tournament, to be held on February 22.
The event, which will be held at the Poliforum Leon, will demonstrate the knowledge, skills and creativity of the university students of Guanajuato.
Jorge Enrique Hernandez Meza, Secretary of Education, said that the first Battle of Robots Tournament will be an exciting spectacle where the participating teams will assemble combat robots that will face each other to survive in the ring, specially designed for the technological confrontation.
Hernandez Meza noted that this is the first combat robots tournament in Mexico on the 20-pound category, where 20 teams representing 18 higher-level schools in the State will participate.
“This technological battle will motivate coexistence not only among different universities, but also high school, secondary and primary students who will be present as guests in this unprecedented event in the state, in total about three thousand attendees are expected,” reported Hernandez Meza.
Antonio de Jesus Navarro Padilla, General Director of Juventudes GTO, said that “events like this undoubtedly put us in the next level, because we have no precedent of another State Government organizing any type of similar contest, we are convinced of this idea of putting our young people in the ecosystem of innovation, entrepreneurship, science, and technology.”
Navarro said that the winners of this tournament will receive as a prize an international experience in Japan led by Juventudes GTO where they will experience academic exchanges, business meetings and cultural activities for 14 days.
Juan Antonio Reus Montano, head of Idea GTO, said that the main purpose of this event is for participating students to experience an evolution of the application of the knowledge in robotics acquired during their training, “we are helping the students to be able to incubate their projects, that they can take this to a business level, that these work groups that are being integrated also have the capacity to consolidate”.
Juan Carlos López Rodríguez, head of the IECA State Training Institute, pointed out that the institute will provide training to 80 students from participating universities, through virtual courses in programming, computer-aided design and electrical control.
Juan Aguilera Cid, General Director of TV4, reported that the tournament will be broadcast by the state television station to bring the excitement of this meeting and spread new vocations to young people.
