Authorities call for responsible celebration of Holidays

The State Coordination of Civil Protection calls on citizens to avoid the use of fireworks due to the risk of burns or fires

Safety and fun can go hand in hand during these Mexican holidays, and for this reason, the Secretary of Security and Peace, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection, urges the general public to protect their lives and avoid risks.

In case of any emergency, dial 911, or if you suspect any illegal activity, you can report it through the anonymous hotline 089. 

If you are going to leave home, consider the following:

• Plan your departure time, routes to use, and identify alternative routes
• Before you go out, check the weather forecast
• Protect children by using earplugs or protective headphones
• Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages, especially if you are going to drive

Remember that the transport, storage and sale of pyrotechnic material are regulated by safety standards and under the supervision and authorization of the competent authorities.

• If you attend a public event with fireworks, respect the warning tapes and follow the instructions of the security personnel. 
• In these locations, identify evacuation routes and establish meeting points with your family in case you are separated.
• Keep children, the elderly, and pregnant women away from crowded areas. 

The State Coordination of Civil Protection of the Secretary of Security and Peace, led by Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, urges all not to buy or sell explosive devices; these can cause fires and lifelong injuries.
