ATMEX celebrated in the city of Guanajuato, 10 years of believing in Adventure Tourism
From October 5 to 7 at the Ex Hacienda San Xavier hotel tour operators, specialists and buyers from Guanajuato, national and international analyzed the sector

Guanajuato City received the Adventure and Nature Tourism Fair of Mexico: ATMEX 2022, event that brought together 420 participants in its tenth edition.
Being a destination that offers the Nature and Adventure segment, the State of Guanajuato -and its 15 municipalities with these activities- has provided pleasant experiences and has met the expectations and needs of travelers seeking this recreational tourism, said Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato.
Antonio Del Rosal Stanford, general director of Experiencias Genuinas, a consulting company specialized in adventure tourism, applauded the effort and collaborative work done by the State with the private initiative in favor of responsible and sustainable tourism.
“We found a Guanajuato that we never imagined, a mystical, proud, surprising, deep, amazing, noble, hospitable and safe Guanajuato. Incredible, this event helped us to transcend what any of us imagined”, highlighted Del Rosal Stanford.
From October 05 to 07, ATMEX celebrated -at the Ex Hacienda San Xavier hotel- with national and international tour operators, specialists and buyers from Guanajuato, a decade promoting and strengthening this Industry; but they also reflected on what needs to be done to position Mexico among the best countries in the world for Adventure and Nature Tourism.
ATMEX has worked to strengthen the offer of services and recreational activities with principles of conservation of natural spaces; promotes the interaction of the visitor with the culture, traditions and customs of the receiving communities; boosts the economy of local communities; and implements measures that have contributed to making adventure and nature tourism in Mexico an activity oriented towards sustainability.
Throughout this edition of ATMEX, there were 420 delegates, 50 buyers from:
- Saltillo, CDMX, Quintana Roo, Durango, Guadalajara, Pachuca, Cuernavaca, Leon, Los Mochis Sinaloa, Merida, Oaxaca, Chihuahua, Puebla, Baja California Sur, Veracruz , State of Mexico, Campeche, Michoacan, Chiapas and of course, the host state, Guanajuato
And from countries like:
- United States, Spain, Canada, Peru, Colombia and the guest country, Argentina
Guanajuato, as the host destination, offered 2 familiarization trips for buyers and media, coordinated by the Adventure and Nature Tourism Association of Guanajuato –ATNAG-, and showed 19 adventures in 1 day to 152 professionals in this segment.
In addition, Guanajuato offered on the night of October 6 a Callejoneada and Popular Verbena to the attendees, to which Huatulco -the ATMEX headquarters destination in 2023- joined with a typical Calenda, making a cultural pass of baton to Jose Hernandez Cardenas, Mayor of Huatulco, Oaxaca.
