A success, the first edition of Meeting Place Guanajuato

The tourist destinations of Guanajuato are better positioned after the mpG held in Guanajuato City

With business appointments agreed and impeccable work in the projection of Guanajuato, the first edition of Meeting Place Guanajuato (mpG) concluded. This event brought together meeting planners, speakers, and leaders of the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism industry, consolidating the State as an international benchmark in conferences and incentives.

The event, held with the support of the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI) and the support of the Guanajuato Tourism Development Council (COFOTUR) through the hotel tax, strengthens the policy of reinvestment in tourism promotion to attract national and international events, generating a better economy for the people of Guanajuato who make their living from tourism. 

“Thanks to the meeting planners who, despite their busy schedules and commitments, supported us and helped us as a destination. That’s something I want to highlight: you are helping us grow,” Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, Secretary of Tourism and Identity, explained to the attendees. 

Over three days of activities, 30 roundtable discussions and more than 600 business meetings were held, generating opportunities for the entire tourism industry value chain. The participation of the State’s six meeting destinations specializing in this segment, Guanajuato City, Silao, Celaya, Irapuato, Leon, San Miguel de Allende, and those aspiring to join, such as Dolores Hidalgo and San Francisco del Rincon, strengthened the State’s ability to compete on the global stage.

Lupita Robles added that this effort is the beginning of a collaborative effort that will elevate Guanajuato internationally. “I want you to return in a few years and remember that we identified challenges and areas of opportunity here, and that we managed to overcome them together. It would be great for me to see all our meeting destinations grow as one Guanajuato,” said Lupita. 

“At SECTURI, we continue to promote meeting tourism, a strategic sector that generates economic benefits, jobs, and global standing for the State, supported by the People’s Government led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo,” said Robles.
