More than 108,000 people currently make up the UVEG community through its various education programs
With 73,978 graduates, the institution contributes to talent development both within and beyond Guanajuato

During the first two years of the People’s Government, the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato (UVEG) has expanded its education options, diversified its academic offer, and extended its presence within and outside of Guanajuato.
Under the vision of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, who is committed to expand opportunities for education that will improve the lives off students and future prospects, UVEG has joined forces with the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato (SEG) to strengthen education coverage and bring training options to diverse segments of the population.
This collaboration has resulted in a more diverse and flexible offer that is aligned with current needs.
Currently, the UVEG community exceeds 108,000 users, integrating online programs, Community Tele-High School, Continuing Education, the Language Center, the Talent Center, and UVEG+ High School. In addition, there are 73,978 graduates, the result of a model that allows students to begin, continue, and complete various education paths.
“UVEG represents much more than just an online study option. We have expanded our offer and presence to bring education opportunities closer to our students and consolidate a model that responds to the needs of our community. We are leaders in online education and are committed to continue evolving to reach more people, in coordination with the strategy of the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato,” said Rector Ricardo Narvaez Martinez.
As part of this expansion, in January 2025 UVEG reached an enrollment of 62,021 students, the largest in its history up to that point. During this period, UVEG+ High School was added, with a presence in 20 locations across 11 municipalities, as well as master’s degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Law, and a statewide Certification in Artificial Intelligence.
The institution also boosted its international presence through the Spanish for Foreigners program in the Philippines, which began with 222 participants, and through alliances to bring its education services closer to Mexicans living abroad and students of other nationalities.
In education innovation, UVEG is a pioneer in the incorporation of micro-credentials, a modality that allows the acquisition and accreditation of specific skills linked to the needs of the professional environment.
“Microcredentials allow us to move toward more agile and specialized systems, in which people can acquire and certify specific skills according to their needs,” said the Rector.
UVEG consolidates a model that articulates upper secondary education, higher education, postgraduate studies, continuing education and specialization, with options that favor access, retention and completion of studies.
