The Cervantino Festival is open to the talent of 1,400 Guanajuatense artists who participate in 34 projects and presentations within the official program of “The Festival of the Spirit,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo during the broadcast of Connecting with the People.

The program included the participation of the Secretary of Culture, Lizeth Galvan Cortes; as well as Lola Lince, choreographer and director of the Lola Lince Experimental Dance Company ; and Andres Gutierrez, a visual artist from Guanajuato.

The Governor recalled that last Saturday marked the opening of the 54th edition of the Cervantino International Festival at the Alhondiga de Granaditas, with a performance by Mike Patton and his “Mondo Cane,” a show that is an intense musical offer.
Libia Dennise said that “The Festival of the Spirit” was born in the plazas and streets of Guanajuato, which is why local artists must always play a significant role. Every year we welcome the world, but we also want the world to discover the talent, creativity, and traditions that flourish in our communities.

This year’s edition features 3,325 artists from 29 countries and 20 Mexican states. Of these, 1,400 are from Guanajuato.
The Secretary of Culture said that the People’s Government is promoting the participation of local artists in the Cervantino Festival through four key areas:
- The first involves 21 projects. These are independent artists, companies, and cultural institutions that will have a presence on the Festival’s main stages.
- The second focus is the Ruelas Project, which involves community groups and the Penitentiary System, with performances in San Roque Plaza and on the TV4 platform.

- Axis 3 is The People’s Stage, with 9 presentations and the participation of groups from 15 municipalities with presentations in the Plaza de San Roque. This is where the Cervantino Festival began.
- Axis 4 is the Street Parades: Living Identity: Dance and Guanajuato Tradition. A grand parade, with more than 600 artists from 17 municipalities, it will be a celebration of Guanajuato’s identity, bringing music, dance, and traditions to the streets of the Cervantino Festival, showcasing the State’s pride and cultural diversity.
During the broadcast of Connecting with the People, Lola Lince, a national figure in contemporary dance, said that participating in the FIC “is a splendid opportunity; my dream was to be here and be part of the Festival; today it is a reality.”
Andres Gutierrez, a visual artist from Guanajuato and one of the leading figures in the State’s visual arts scene, expressed his gratitude to the People’s Government for the invitation to participate in the Cervantino Festival, “it is an honor to be from Guanajuato and to participate in the FIC with my exhibition ‘The Land We Leave Behind,’ which is being presented at the Museo del Pueblo.”

Also at this year’s FIC, there will be an extraordinary tribute to Jose Alfredo Jimenez on the centenary of his birth. And another tribute to the legacy of Maria Grever, the Governor noted.
The tribute to Jose Alfredo “the people’s poet,” will be held at the Alhondiga de Granaditas esplanade on October 15th. The tenor Arturo Chacon Cruz will sing, and Mariachi Gama 1000 will also perform.

Also there is a tribute to the legacy of Maria Grever on the 75th anniversary of her death. One of Mexico’s greatest composers, born in Leon. The lead singer of the tribute will be Denise Gutierrez. It will take place on October 10th at the State Auditorium. Among the songs Denise will perform “Jurame” and “Alma mía,” with the Vientos Musicales Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Comonfort Choir.

“We look forward to seeing you at the Cervantino Festival. During the 16 days of the Festival of the Spirit, you will experience intense activities with the best of art and culture,” the Governor noted.
