The Lola Lince Experimental Dance Company will represent Guanajuato with a proposal that intertwines contemporary dance, tradition and Kafkaesque imagery

The choreographic piece constructs a scenic journey that explores memory, identity, and the human condition through movement

Guanajuato/Gto News

The Secretary of Culture of Guanajuato announces the participation of the Lola Lince Experimental Dance Company in the 54th edition of the International Cervantino Festival, with the presentation of Operativo Kafka, a stage proposal that explores the human condition through contemporary dance, symbolism and the poetics of movement.

Directed by choreographer and dancer Lola Lince, the company is known for its experimental approach, where the body becomes a space for memory, thought, and transformation.

The company has established as a laboratory for choreographic research and creation, conceiving of movement as a sensitive, symbolic, and critical experience of the contemporary body.

In Operativo Kafka, twelve dancers embark on a scenic journey, the play proposes a dialogue between tradition and contemporary art through an abstract narrative that blends languages such as painting, kinetic sculpture, and dance, constructing a poetic universe.

The creation incorporates elements of deep cultural roots in Guanajuato, such as the Danza del Torito, a popular tradition from Guanajuato that is very popular inmunicipalities such as Romita and Silao, and the aesthetics of the Tastuanes from Jalisco, establishing a bridge between the identity symbols of popular culture and the tensions of contemporary life.

The piece unfolds in five passages that explore different stages of existence:

  • From The Dream of the Fetus, the trigger for the journey and a metaphor for ancestral memory
  • The March, where ritual, celebration, and pilgrimage converge as a spiritual quest
  • Fragmentations, which explores the reconstruction of bodily unity
  • The Threshold, an encounter between life and death
  • El Torito, a symbol of vital force and the inevitable presence of death

The performance is presented on October 3rd, at 5:00 PM, at the Cervantes Theater, as part of the program of the largest cultural event in Latin America, consolidating the presence of Guanajuato talent on one of the most important stages in the country.
