As part of the commemoration of World Tourism Day, SECTURI and ENES Leon of UNAM sign a collaboration agreement with a validity of five years during the inauguration of the Tourism and Sustainable Development Laboratory

In the inauguration of the Tourism and Sustainable Development Laboratory, of the National School of Higher Studies (ENES) Leon Unit of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Government of the People, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), signed a collaboration agreement that will allow the exchange of information, academic materials and human resources.
For the People’s Government of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, this alliance, as part of the commemoration of World Tourism Day, with a validity of five years, means the creation of research networks, the development of joint projects, and offfering diplomas, courses, workshops, seminars and forums.
“Today we are taking a very important step with the signing of the collaboration agreement by the Secretary of Tourism and Identity and the National Autonomous University of Mexico, through ENES Leon. This alliance will open opportunities for continuing education programs, social service, professional internships, and academic activities at the facilities of both institutions,” said the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon.
The Secretary of Tourism and Identity told students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Sustainable Development that, under this year’s theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to redesign the sector ,” World Tourism Day invites us to recognize the economic, social, cultural, and environmental importance of this activity, as well as to promote the use of technology and innovation to make better decisions, take care of resources, and expand opportunities for everyone, without losing the human essence that distinguishes tourism.
“Its importance lies in uniting two fundamental capabilities. On the one hand, the knowledge, research, and young talent of the University. On the other, the territorial experience, information, and capacity for action of the Secretary. We want this agreement to translate into students applying their knowledge, research that helps solve problems, and projects that strengthen our destinations. To this end, it will count with designated managers, monitoring, and evaluation of results,” said Robles.
